Just like any other sport, the world of Formula One has lots of merchandise and memorabilia that can be bought.

Most fans in the sporting world want to be close to their sporting idols and one way of doing this is by buying merchandise that are either officially made by the sport, or the teams or the athletes that they admire.

In Formula One there is a multitude of different merchandise that can be bought on thousands of websites and stores. And a good deal is not just getting something for a good price but getting something rare or finding something special or odd when you least expect it.

Formula One being a motor sport of course lends itself to different drivers from different parts of the world driving different cars from different countries. As such German fans could buy an Italian teams products and English fans could buy books and DVD’s about a Brazilian driver.

But what is out there to buy for fans? Well the most popular is probably die-cast models. These models come in various sizes, the most popular being either the 1:18 replicas or the 1:24 size, but other sizes such as the 1:43 is ever increasing. Great deals can be found on the teams websites like Ferrari, Renault, McLaren, and of course on the official Formula One website and website like eBay, Autostrada, Dukevideo, Grandprixlegends, Racing store and Hotwheels.

With products to choose from between models, radio control cars, shirts, mugs, DVD’s books, pens, caps, games and flags and much more the faithful fan will never run out of gifts they could ask for or buy themselves.

Model cars normally range between $20 and $80 depending on size, make and driver or car combinations – the most popular of course being Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Ferrari and these days Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton.

Shirts and caps would set you back anywhere between about $10 (if you get a great deal) and around $60 for the new Räikkönen shirt.

DVD’s and books are found aplenty online and in bookstores and a visit to a local library can even turn up an old gem or two to be read.

Computer games as well as games for the PlayStation will cost anywhere from $30 to $60 but provide hours of fun and puts fans in the cars and teams they admire and see racing every other week.

And of course for a trip to the next Formula One race, fans can stock up on flags, shoes, shorts and temporary tattoos for those who have not already made a more permanent commitment.

But there are also various other products that can be found. Interesting buys like watches, deodorants, posters ($15 - $55), decals (free!), brief cases ($30), cufflinks ($18), laptops ($1100 - $2600), scalextric sets and Boeing plane models with Formula One color schemes ($30). Truly something for everyone’s tastes.

There are always new and exciting drivers and teams that make their appearance in Formula One and with every passing year more and more toys and merchandise will be added to the already massive collection that can be bought. Every fan wants to be as close to their sport as they can be and for some fans the only way to do this is by buying that special something that makes the long wait between races a little shorter.

So buy a radio control car and go race outside with other friends and fans, maybe a new Schumacher or Räikkönen could emerge!
